Oxbow Bend

Oxbow Bend is widely recognized as the most photographed location within the stunning Grand Teton National Park. The iconic view of the winding Snake River, beautifully framed by the magnificent reflection of Mt. Moran, stands out as the most celebrated image of this remarkable area. This timeless location has been captured thousands of times by eager photographers, and as soon as you drive up to this breathtaking spot, you will quickly understand the reason for its popularity and allure.

When I was planning my photography trip to Grand Teton National Park, making a stop at Oxbow Bend was definitely at the top of my list. It's a magnificent location that offers incredible opportunities, but there was an additional reason I was drawn to shoot here. Some of the greatest photography icons have captured their own stunning images in this very spot. Renowned photographers like Ansel Adams, Art Wolfe, and the local Teton legend Thomas Mangelsen have all graced this area with their talent. Their amazing artistry has deeply inspired me and influenced my own photography journey. To have the chance to create a photograph in a location where these legendary figures once stood and worked was a truly significant moment in my photography life.

In terms of difficulty, getting this particular shot lands around a 3 on the meter. You simply drive up to Oxbow Bend, take a leisurely stroll around to find the best composition that speaks to you, and then hope for a calm moment to stop the wind so you can capture a perfect reflection in the serene water. Finally, you gently press the shutter release button with anticipation. The odds are undoubtedly in your favor that you will walk away with a stunning shot that captures the essence of this beautiful place.
