The American Bald Eagle

Each year, from November to March, more than 1,000 majestic bald eagles migrate to the stunning state of Colorado, joining the state’s roughly 200 nesting pairs that call this beautiful region home. Having only observed eagles at the local zoo while living in Philadelphia, seeing one in its natural habitat was an exhilarating experience full of wonder. Watching these magnificent birds glide through the sky, you can truly understand why they have become the esteemed symbol of this great country. Strength, power, beauty, and grace… all of these powerful words dance through your mind as you quietly observe them in their element. In this striking photo, I was able to capture the raptor taking off into the vast blue sky. This incredible creature was on the hunt for an unmatched rodent in the field below. If you look closely, you can see the intense focus and unwavering determination etched on the eagle’s face in this picture. The hunt was indeed a success; it was a remarkable day for the eagle, but sadly, not the best day for its unsuspecting prey.
