Mountain In The Mirror
Reflection
Conditions have to be just right to achieve a perfect reflection in the still water. Everything in the environment has to be utterly still and undisturbed. There should be no movement caused by curious fish or tiny insects skimming across the surface. Ideally, there would be no wind to disrupt the tranquility, nor any precipitation to interfere with the serene atmosphere. Instead, it should be only clean, calm conditions that create the perfect setting. When you find yourself in such idyllic circumstances, you are gifted the opportunity to capture absolutely stunning shots. Each image is crisp and clear, free from any disruptions. Not only do you gain a clear vision of your subject, but you also receive a breathtakingly clear vision of the opposite view reflected back. When I manage to take shots like this, I strive to make myself think deeply and reflect in the same calm way. I take time to engage with something personal in my life, allowing myself to stay undistracted and peaceful. There are no disturbances in this moment, because in an instant, just like when I am trying to capture the perfect picture, one small disturbance can shatter that pristine view forever. This particular image was taken on a cool July morning, just as the first light began to illuminate the scene. A few short minutes after capturing this photo, a gentle breeze began to stir the air. That once calm, mirror-like lake was quickly transformed, and the extraordinary stillness that had so wonderfully framed my image was now gone. It remained beautiful, of course, but now it danced with ripples, reminding me of the ever-changing nature of our surroundings.
