A Walk With Mom

The Queen of the Tetons

Born in 1996, Grizzly Bear 399 has been gracefully roaming the majestic mountains of Grand Teton National Park for many years, captivating the hearts of visitors and wildlife enthusiasts alike. On my recent trip to this stunning park, I had numerous shots that I was eager to capture, but 399 was undoubtedly at the very top of my list. One crisp early morning, I eagerly set out for a drive to explore the park further, and to my delight, I stumbled upon a “Bear Jam.” A large and excited group of us gathered, standing together and waiting patiently with our cameras at the ready. Finally, the moment we had all been waiting for arrived—gracefully, 399 and her adorable cubs came strolling through the lush meadow. You could truly feel the palpable excitement that coursed through the crowd of photographers, yet the only sound you could hear was the rapid and rhythmic clicks of camera shutters capturing this incredible sight. If you happen to plan a trip to Grand Teton National Park, make sure to keep a keen eye out for this beautiful lady and her precious cubs!
